Before you do anything: Create a “read magnet” to direct people to.
A read magnet is essentially an ungated long-form article or comprehensive guide that you publish on your website that you offer for free. The objective is to offer a lot of value with that one page and then provide a related content upgrade to readers who want additional information.
If you’ve done an excellent job with the read magnet, then one or more of the following will happen:
- Folks will link to it from their own websites,
- Your article will rank on page one of Google, and
- People will be so blown away by it that they’ll reshare it to their audience.
As you’ll soon see, your read magnet will be your essential asset that can be used with all the promotional ideas we discuss below.

So, how can you use live streaming to promote your blog and grow your traffic? Here are five ideas:
1. Go live on social media.
Platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, and Twitter all have live streaming capabilities. So take advantage of them!
When you go live on social media, be sure to mention your blog posts and/or your read magnet. Then give viewers a link so they can check it out.
Another thing you can do is to use a blog post that you’ve published as the topic for your live stream. You can expand on the ideas on the blog post, or present a summary, and direct your viewers to the blog post during your stream.
Here’s an example: I took my read magnet and talked about one of the sections of the article on FB Live. I was then able to naturally direct viewers to the read magnet.
2. Collaborate with other bloggers on a join live stream.
One great way to promote your blog is to collaborate with other bloggers with similar target audiences.
For example, if you’re a fashion blogger, team up with a beauty blogger for a joint live stream where you give viewers tips on putting together the perfect outfit for a night out.
Not only will this help promote your blog to new audiences, but it will also help build relationships with other bloggers in your niche.
Here’s an example of a FB Live where I interviewed another blogger, and during the stream, we talked about one of his best-performing blog posts.
3. Participate in online events and conferences.
There are often online events and conferences related to blogging and digital marketing. And many of these events offer opportunities for sponsorships or speaking slots. If you can secure one of these spots, it’s a great chance to promote your blog to a wider audience.

Another great way to reach new audiences is to be a guest on podcasts or webinars that are in your niche and industry. When you’re a guest on someone else’s show, you can share your expert knowledge while promoting your blog to the show’s audience.

This strategy has worked really well for building my audience and growing traffic to this website.
5. Host your own event or webinar series.
Finally, you can always host your own event or webinar series related to blogging or digital marketing. This is a great way to attract new readers and build relationships with other bloggers and influencers in your space.
